Keeping every pupil safe, supported and protected
At St Richard’s, the safety and wellbeing of every pupil is our highest priority.
We are committed to providing a caring, supportive and secure environment where pupils feel safe, respected and able to speak openly. We want every pupil to feel confident that they will be listened to and supported.
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. All staff, governors and volunteers play an active role in protecting pupils from harm and promoting their wellbeing.
We work closely with parents, carers and external agencies to ensure that every pupil receives the support they need.
What to Do if You Have a Concern
If you have any concerns about a pupil’s safety or wellbeing, it is important to contact us as soon as possible.
You can:
- speak to a member of staff
- contact your child’s Pastoral Leader or Personal Tutor
- contact the school office, who will direct your concern appropriately
If a child is in immediate danger, please contact emergency services.
We take all concerns seriously and will act promptly to ensure pupils are safe and supported.
No concern is too small – we are here to help.
How We Keep Pupils Safe
We have clear procedures in place to identify, support and protect pupils who may be at risk.
This includes:
- trained safeguarding staff and designated leads
- working with external agencies where appropriate
- clear systems for reporting and recording concerns
- creating an environment where pupils feel safe to speak
We also support pupils to understand how to keep themselves safe, including online.
Supporting Pupils to Feel Safe
We recognise the importance of creating a school environment where pupils:
- feel safe and respected
- are able to talk openly
- know who they can go to for help
Through pastoral care, the curriculum and daily school life, we help pupils build confidence, resilience and awareness.
