At St Richard’s, inclusion is rooted in our mission and lived out each day in our classrooms. We believe that every pupil is created in God’s image and deserves to flourish within a community of kindness, care and high expectations.

The wellbeing and progress of all pupils are central to our work. For pupils with identified additional needs, we provide carefully tailored support to help them achieve aspirational goals and experience success in their learning. Our aim is to ensure that every pupil has equitable access to the curriculum and is supported to achieve the very best outcomes for their next steps.

Support is adapted according to individual needs. This may include:

Adjusted teaching approaches and adapted resources
Specialist equipment
Thoughtful classroom groupings
Targeted interventions

Our experienced Teaching Assistants work alongside Subject Specialist Teachers within lessons and also deliver additional interventions where appropriate. Throughout this support, we focus on developing independence, confidence and the skills pupils need to prepare for adulthood.

Pupil voice is an essential part of our SEND provision. We listen carefully to pupils’ experiences and reflect this in our planning and support. We recognise that parents and carers know their child best, and we welcome regular communication to ensure we fully understand each pupil’s strengths and needs.

Where additional support is required, we work in partnership with external agencies to provide coordinated and effective provision. Together, we aim to ensure that every pupil feels valued, supported and able to thrive.
